Behr Technologies Announces MIOTY™ by BTI — 1.0 Starter Kit with Azure
World’s premier IIoT wireless software platform takes advantage of Azure to enable massive data aggregation.
Toronto, April 24, 2018 (Globe Newswire) — Behr Technologies (BTI) announced today, at Hannover Messe in Germany, the general availability of MIOTY™ by BTI — 1.0 Starter Kit with Azure. MIOTY™ – a best-in-class LPWAN (Low Power Wide Area Network) wireless communications software is now integrated with Azure. This integration promises to deliver an end-to-end solution for the industrial marketplace and offers the unparalleled ability to cost effectively capture and process massive amounts of IoT data on a wireless network.
Dense areas and remote locations pose huge communications costs and network scalability challenges to Industrial environments. MIOTY empowers industrial and commercial organizations to deploy a private IoT sensor network with unprecedented capacity, Quality of Service (QoS), and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Using industry-standard PC gateways and transceivers, MIOTY transmits up to 1,500,000 messages a day up to a 15km distance, with the deepest possible building penetration and no carrier fees.
“We punch through where others can’t on the most massive and cost-effective scale in the market today. MIOTY has been specifically developed as a vendor independent software solution for LPWAN communications and is poised to be the next commercial standard for wireless IIoT connectivity. The integration with Azure enables MIOTY to leverage Azure’s built-in intelligence to deliver end-to-end IoT solutions that unlock a broad range of use cases says, ”Albert Behr, Chief Executive Officer, Behr Technologies Inc.
In Industries such as Mining, Automotive, Manufacturing, Environmental Monitoring, and Oil & Gas, MIOTY 1.0 Starter Kit with Azure, will be the first available software to enable a new and unique approach to production monitoring, predictive maintenance, energy management, condition monitoring, facilities management and workforce safety.
“Access to scalable and cost effective wireless data communications solutions for IoT is an ongoing challenge for industrial customers, and we are thrilled that Behr Technologies is including Azure services in their MIOTY solution,” said Carl Coken, General Manager, IoT, Microsoft. “The combination of MIOTY and Azure will allow organizations to process billions of messages and utilize Azure services such as streaming analytics and machine learning to make decisions and take action in real time.”
NORCAT, the only innovation center in the world with an operating mine that provides mining technology companies with the resources, infrastructure, expertise, and equipment required to develop, test, and showcase their equipment in an underground operating mine environment, supported MIOTY from BTI in their technology development journey.
“The NORCAT Underground Centre provides our global mining technology clients with a state-of-the-art operating mine that serves as an ‘active laboratory’ to develop, de-risk, and ultimately showcase emerging technologies that are poised to transform the global mining industry,” cites Don Duval, CEO of NORCAT. “We are very excited that BTI has opted to test their MIOTY technology platform at our facility – furthering our global reputation in anchoring the world’s ‘one-stop shop’ for all that is the future of mining technology in Sudbury, Canada.
The Philosophy behind IoT is that machines are better than humans at accurately and consistently capturing & communicating data. This data can enable companies to pick up on inefficiencies and proactively identify problems sooner, saving time, money and supporting business intelligence efforts. IoT wireless communications, integrated with a cloud platform for computing and analytics is the key driver to digital transformation.
Founded in 2018, Toronto-based Behr Technologies Inc. (BTI) is a worldwide licensee of MIOTYTM, the new commercial standard in LPWAN technology for Industrial IoT. The company is focused on commercializing, licensing, and supporting MIOTY through partnerships with industry-leading technology providers, and the development of new MIOTY-based products and applications for the IIoT marketplace. BTI’s first commercial product using this ETSI standard is the MIOTY 1.0 Starter Kit with Microsoft Azure, which was launched in April at Hannover Messe, Germany.
